We believe everyone should have access to the tools and information they need to participate in this transition.

Through Clean Energy Reviews, we've spent years helping Australians navigate their solar and battery choices with independent, expert advice. Now, through Photonik, we're sharing that knowledge with the rest of the world — building tools that work across 190+ countries, designed for both homeowners planning their first system and professionals designing them every day.

Built by the team behind Clean Energy Reviews
Clean Energy Reviews has been one of Australia's most trusted independent sources for solar and battery information since 2014. With millions of visitors and a decade of hands-on product testing and industry engagement, CER has helped thousands of consumers and professionals make confident energy decisions.
Photonik grew out of that same mission. After years of reviewing products and advising people on solar, we saw the need for better design and planning tools — so we built them.
Meet the team
Jason Svarc
Co-founder · Solar & Battery Specialist
Jason is a SAA-accredited specialist in off-grid, battery, and solar systems with over 14 years of experience designing, installing, and managing solar power systems. He taught the off-grid solar PV design course at Swinburne University and has built extensive technical expertise across residential, commercial, and agricultural energy systems.
Jason runs Transfer Solar & Wolfhouse Electrical, specialising in off-grid and hybrid solar systems across Central Victoria. He brings deep, hands-on knowledge of real-world system performance to everything we build at Photonik.
Marty Newkirk
Co-founder · Product & Operations
Marty has over a decade of experience across product management and operations in clean energy and transport. He co-founded Clean Energy Reviews in 2014 and leads product development at Photonik.
Previously, Marty was a Product Manager at Car Next Door, where he helped scale the platform from startup through to acquisition by Uber — leading product, pricing experiments, and growth strategy. Earlier, he founded and ran a solar operations business in Melbourne. He brings a relentless focus on making complex technology simple and accessible.
Bruce Hyslop
Software Development
Bruce is an IT professional and technology innovator who has long been a renewable energy enthusiast. Over the last two decades, his engineering and IT background has led to success across several small businesses. His unique skill set was ideally suited to developing the advanced tools and systems behind Photonik's solar performance estimator and design software.
